Welcome to the Nursery's viewing page, the following pictures give you a little insight into Nursery life at Henshaw!
Our Nursery has two lovely spacious rooms; the Caterpillar room and the Butterfly room. It also has a private toileting and nappy changing area, a large outdoor space equipped with a climbing tower, slide and more. The children also have access to an allotment where they can plant and grow. As well as this, the setting now has access to a small woodland area, where the children can take part in a range of exciting activities.

The Main Entrance
The main entrance room is a place where parents and visitors can find lots of useful information about the Nursery itself. It provides a lovely information board telling parents about lunches, activities and more, it also has a key worker board so that families can see who the staff are and who there child's key person is.
The main entrance is also where the each of the children have their own peg hook and draw to keep there belongings safe and promote their independence.

The Caterpillar Room
The caterpillar room is aimed at the younger children attending the Nursery; those aged 2-3 years old.  It is planned for and set out specifically for their development stage. The resources and activities on offer are created with the age and stages of the children in mind, to ensure that they are reaching their full potential.
The caterpillar room has many lovely qualities, it is an open planned room so that the children can see and are not crowed in by large furniture, and so that they can freely explore the environment.
This room has immediate access to the toilets and wash basins, a snack area, both of which allow the children independence. The room is set up around the children's interests and themes, this provides exciting stimulus for learning through their play.
The Butterfly Room
This room is fully accessible at all times and it provides a lovely extra space for the ever-growing Nursery. However, this room has been created for the children that are preparing themselves for Reception. It provides lots of challenging activities for the older age range of children that we have. Specifically looking at their fine motor and physical development, mark making opportunities and some more mature maths activities. This room also leads to technological attributes, in which the children can explore on the computer or interactive whiteboard. This room is also linked into the Reception classroom, promoting transition as we work closely alongside the Reception staff and children. This helps and creates a smoother and much more confident move into school when the time comes for our children.
